A Chief Magistrate Court in Katsina has remanded one 18 years old Asiya Lawal of Kogo street, Sabuwa local government, in prison over allegedly killing her husband, Iliya Sani.
Asiya, who was newly married to Iliya allegedly locked him up in a room and set the house ablaze after a misunderstanding.
The Prosecuting police officer, Kabir Mohammed, told the court that as a result of the fire the deceased sustained various degrees on burns and was rushed to Funtua General hospital before being referred to ABU Teaching hospital where he died.
He said, a good Samaritan reported the matter to police before the suspect was arrested and charged to court according to section 221 of penal code.
The presiding judge, Hadiza Danja, adjourned the matter to 31st of this month and ordered that the suspect to be remanded in prison.
